ZirconMail Service Terms
Additional terms for ZirconMail, our free and private email service. These terms add to the Red Zircon Terms of Use.
About these terms
These ZirconMail Service Terms apply to ZirconMail, Red Zircon’s free, private email service at zirconmail.com. They add to the Red Zircon Terms of Use, which apply in full. If the two differ, these terms apply to ZirconMail. How your data is handled is explained in the Red Zircon Privacy Policy and the ZirconMail Privacy Notice.
ZirconMail is free
Personal ZirconMail accounts, with your own @zirconmail.com address, are free. There is no charge for a personal mailbox, we do not show ads in ZirconMail, and we do not sell your data. We will never start charging you without first asking for and receiving your clear agreement.
Who can use ZirconMail
- You must be at least 16 years old to create a ZirconMail account.
- Each account is for one person. You must not create accounts using automated means or in bulk.
- Add a recovery email address and keep it up to date. If you lose your password and have no working recovery method, we may not be able to restore your access.
Your address
- Addresses are given on a first-come, first-served basis. Some addresses are reserved (for example, addresses used for our own services, or that could be mistaken for Red Zircon, ZirconMail or a public authority).
- You must not choose an address that impersonates another person, brand or organisation, or that is offensive or misleading. We may refuse or withdraw such addresses.
- Your address belongs to your account and cannot be sold or transferred.
- When an account is deleted, its address is never reissued to anyone else.
Limits
To keep the service fast, reliable and free of abuse, we apply reasonable limits, for example on mailbox storage, attachment size, and the number of messages and recipients you can send to in a given period. Limits may change as the service develops; we will not reduce them in a way that significantly affects normal personal use without reasonable notice.
Keep copies of what matters
We work hard to protect your mail, and we keep backups of our systems for our own recovery purposes. However, ZirconMail is not a backup or archive service, and you should keep your own copies of anything important.
Inactive accounts
If you do not sign in to a free ZirconMail account for 24 months, we may close it to protect the account and free resources. We will warn you at least 30 days in advance by email to the account and to your recovery address, if you have one. Signing in at any time keeps your account active.
Business mailboxes
If your ZirconMail mailbox is provided by an organisation, that organisation’s agreement with us and its own policies also apply, and it may manage, suspend or delete your mailbox.
Email-specific rules
In addition to the acceptable use rules in the Terms of Use:
- ZirconMail is for personal and normal business correspondence. Do not use it for marketing lists, newsletters, bulk notifications or mass mailings.
- Do not send mail that hides or misrepresents who it is from, or that is designed to get around spam filters.
- Comply with anti-spam and electronic marketing laws that apply to you.
If an account sends spam or is compromised, we may limit sending or hold outgoing mail while we investigate, as described in the Terms of Use.
If we stop offering ZirconMail
If we ever decide to stop offering ZirconMail, we will give you at least 90 days’ notice and the means to export your email first.
