Summary
- We only use cookies and browser storage that are needed to run our websites securely, keep you signed in and remember your choices.
- We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics.
- None of our cookies are used to follow you around other websites.
Cookies in ZirconMail
These cookies are set by ZirconMail (login.zirconmail.com, home.zirconmail.com and mail.zirconmail.com). They are strictly necessary or functional, secure, and only used by ZirconMail.
- zirconmail_session: Keeps you signed in. Ends when you sign out, after 2 hours without activity, or at most 12 hours after you sign in.
- zirconmail_browser: Links your sign-in to this browser, so a stolen session cookie cannot be used elsewhere. Expires after 1 hour unless renewed.
- zirconmail_csrf: Protects your account against cross-site request forgery. Expires after 1 hour unless renewed.
- zirconmail_landing: Remembers whether you chose to skip the dashboard and go straight to your inbox. Expires after 12 months.
ZirconMail also uses local storage in your browser to remember display preferences: zirconmail:appearance:v1 (theme and layout), zirconmail:rail (whether the side menu is expanded), zirconmail:reading-width (the width of the reading pane) and zirconmail:dashboardSkip (your dashboard choice). These never leave your device.
What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. Browser storage (“local storage” and “session storage”) works in a similar way, but the information stays in your browser and is not sent to our servers automatically.
Session cookies and session storage are deleted when you close your browser or tab. Persistent cookies and local storage remain until they expire or you delete them.
Cookies on redzircontech.com
- rz_session: Strictly necessary. Keeps your visit secure, protects forms (such as the contact form) against cross-site request forgery, and keeps you signed in to the website administration area. Session: deleted when you close your browser.
Cookies in the Red Zircon console
These cookies are set by app.redzircontech.com. They are strictly necessary, secure and can only be read by our console.
- __Host-rz_console_customer_session: Keeps you signed in to the console. Expires one hour after you sign in, or when you sign out.
- __Host-rz_console_customer_scope: Remembers which of your organisations you are working in. Session.
- __Host-rz_console_customer_guest: Protects the sign-in, registration and password reset forms against forgery. Expires after 30 minutes.
- __Host-rz_console_staff_session, __Host-rz_console_staff_scope and __Host-rz_console_staff_guest: The same functions for Red Zircon staff accounts.
Browser storage we use
On redzircontech.com:
- rz_cookie_choice (local storage): remembers your choice on our cookie notice, so we do not ask again.
- rz_notifications_seen (local storage): remembers which website notices you have already seen.
- rz_carousel_paused (local storage): remembers whether you paused the slideshow on our home page.
- rza:history, rza:unread, rza:open, rza:nudged (session storage): keep your Red Zircon Assistant conversation and its window state for the current tab. Cleared when you close the tab.
- rza:sound, rza:notify (local storage): remember whether you turned the assistant’s sound and desktop notifications on or off.
In the console:
- cx-toast (session storage): briefly holds a confirmation message (for example, “Profile saved”) so it can be shown after the page refreshes.
Your console appearance setting (light or dark) is saved to your account, not in a cookie.
Third-party cookies
We do not allow third parties to set cookies through our websites or console, and we do not load advertising, social media or analytics scripts.
ZirconMail does not load remote images or other content embedded in emails by default, so senders cannot use tracking pixels to set cookies or tell when you open their messages.
Managing cookies
Because we only use strictly necessary cookies and functional storage, they are set without asking for consent, as the law allows. You can still control them:
- Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and site data in their settings or privacy options.
- If you block or delete our cookies, you will be signed out and some features (such as signing in, sending forms and remembered preferences) will not work.
- Closing your browser removes session cookies and session storage.
We do not track you across websites, so there is nothing to opt out of for “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals.
Changes to this policy
If we start using any new cookies or storage, we will update this page first. If we ever wanted to use cookies that are not strictly necessary, such as analytics, we would ask for your consent before setting them.
